What is the Grand Prix Series?
Runners tracked with the best five runs each runner has that will count to total points after the final race.
The one point for participating in a race has been dropped for this year. So we are back to 30 points for first, 29 for second etc.
A new rule for this year is that points will also be awarded for age categories.
As normal, competitors will be awarded points for the Open category along with all other club members.
In addition, they will be awarded a second set of points by being compared with others in the same age category.
So the first back in an age category will get 30 points, with the second to finish in that same category receiving 29 etc.
In the event of a tie for any of the prizes, then a countback system will be used to determine the winner.
This means that the runners who have tied will then have totals for their best six compared and, if need be, their best seven or best eight etc.
If both runners have done the same amount of races and the total for each comparison always provides an equal total, then their head-to-head for all races they each competed in will be tallied and the one with more wins over the other will win the prize.
In the unlikely event that this does not indicate a clear winner, it will be declared a draw.
Please remember that Club colours must be worn in Grand Prix races and Club championships to qualify for a prize.
Please also remember to enter races in good time as we find more filling up long before the race.
It is your responsibility to enter races in good time.
You must declare as a member of Dumfries Running Club when entering, as only those who have done so will be awarded points.
