About us

Dumfries Running Club was formed in the 1980s after members of Nith Valley Joggers decided to affiliate with Scottish Athletics.

We currently have around 130 members of varying ages and cater for all types of runners. For some, a couple of miles on the roads is enough to give them their running fix, while others prefer to put in the miles on the trails. As well as running for fun, members also take part in a variety of races from 5ks right through to ultramarathons in the Lake District and along the West Highland Way.

Whatever your preference, you’ll always find a supportive, friendly atmosphere with members more than happy to share their advice and experience to help you on your running journey.

In addition, the club also organises races in the Dumfries area and runs free jogscotland courses aimed at helping new and lapsed runners go from nothing to being able to run two miles within 10 weeks.
