Medal Haul at Crossmichael

On Sunday 25th, after a break of several years, the Crossmichael Marathon returned to the local race scene with 17 runners completing the course which took them through Parton to New Galloway then down the other side of the loch to Laurieston, through Glenlochar and back into Crossmichael....

On a very hot day, Adrian Leach of Galloway Harriers took the win, assisted in no small part by a marshalling error which saw Jacob Tangey take the wrong route whilst leading. Jacob recovered after the mistake to take second place, only 37 seconds behind the winner after running what the organisers estimated to have been almost a full mile extra. Congratulations too to Les Hill and Dawn McDonald for making it a club bronze medal double as they finished in their respective 3^rd places.

For the 15 mile race, runners were taken by bus to the start in New Galloway and then set off along the same route as the marathon. Kevin Conchar had a great run, leading from start to finish to record a winning time of 1:32:49. Norman Neilson completed the Club’s medal haul by taking second place in 1:41:18
