DUMFRIES RUNNING CLUB
What do we do….
Many members enter races but a lot of us don’t although we all run for fun.
The emphasis is on companionship and enjoyment.
We organize two road
races a year – The Holywood Stroll (5 miles) & the Dumfries Half Marathon.
Various social runs are regularly arranged which sometimes involve a weekend
away.

When do we do it…
Club runs on Tuesdays & Thursdays. Meet @ 6.30pm for 6.45 start.
A
beginners/slower group meet on Mondays @ 6.15pm for 6.30 start.
On the first Thursday of each month we hold a handicap race. After a
series of six races a winner with the best three performances is rewarded
with a tankard.
Where do we do it…
In the summer we venture out on quiet country roads but on dark nights run
under the streetlights in Dumfries.
We meet at Dumfries Sports Club,
Nunholm Road, Dumfries. If you join the Sports Club you would gain:
Unlimited use of showers & changing facilities.
Access to the bar
(licensed) where refreshments are available.
Access to our dedicated
notice board with details of events and results.
Club runners also meet in
Dalbeattie on Tuesday and Thursday nights…
In the winter months the group runs on quiet streets in the town, whilst
during spring, summer and autumn we utilise the network of forest roads and
trails in Dalbeattie forest.
The group meets @6.00pm outside Dalbeattie
Primary School on Southwick road. Some runners start @5.30pm but there will
always be someone there @6.00pm. The group is a mix of men and women,
running at a variety of speeds. Newcomers as well as experienced runners in
the Dalbeattie area are welcome to join us.
Anything else….
Why not try us without commitment and if you enjoy it JOIN US!
Visitors to the area are also welcome to come along for a run.
