............  Almost there!! We have 10 individuals committed to using DRC bus transport for the upcoming Dentdale race, if provided on the day. We really could use  five or six more to say "yes" between now and Friday lunchtime to let us go firm on hiring a 16-seater for the day.  Plan is to have the coach depart Nunholm (10th March) at 09:45, arriving back into Dumfries at approx. 18:30. Gives us time for a post-race drink as usual in Dent.

Please confirm on or before noon this Friday that you wish to reserve a place on the coach and also place this request on this website's  Forum thread "Bus to Races". If we have the numbers we will proceed to book the coach going into this weekend. We will then confirm to all via the Forum.

We are saddened to hear that Des Park passed away peacefully in the Alexandra Unit of DGRI on 28th February. Des was a stalwart of DRC for many years and was well loved for his character and kindness. He has run a truly great race of life .... with good humour and grace right to the finish line. We offer our most sincere condolences to Marilyn on her loss. We will inform members of funeral arrangements once we have them. The Club will mark the great contribution to DRC of Des at a suitable and appropriate time.

On Sunday 26th February, 21 Dumfries Running Club members travelled to Maryport to take part in the Malcolm McDougal memorial 10 mile race... report by Steve Mohan...

Just a quick reminder that Sunday February 26th is the first race of the 2012 Grand Prix season. The Netherhall 10 mile race starts (at 11am) and finishes near Maryport, where there are showers and a post-race buffet. A bus has been booked and will leave Nunholm at 8am and return at about 4pm. The bus is now full - please see forum for more details. The committee would like to remind all runners that in order to obtain GP points for this race, a club vest must be worn - kit can be ordered by contacting: kit@dumfriesrunningclub.org.uk

On Sunday February 12th, Susan Gallagher raced the Meon Valley Plod in Hampshire. The 21 (or so) mile race, organised by the Portsmouth Joggers takes competitors up and down the hills of the South Downs. Susan survived to report on the race.....

Dumfries Running Club Awards Night Dinner Dance The highlight of the social calendar for members of Dumfries Running Club came last Friday (3rd) when 103 members, friends and family squeezed into Dumfries Rugby Club for the annual prize giving dinner dance. After an excellent three course meal prepared by the Green Tea Company of Moniaive, Chairman Peter Hutchison introduced the prize winners in a variety of categories that symbolised the wide variety of achievements of so many runners in 2011.
