Glenkiln 12 mile race and Hawswater Half Marathon

02/03/2014

On Sunday 2nd March, a smaller than usual field took part in the Glenkiln 12 mile race, organised by Ian Anderson and his team from Dumfries Harriers...

The best DRC performer was Emily Isles who outlined her growing potential in 111 mins having run much of the way with Sarah Lancaster who finished only 5 seconds behind. In a step up in distance, Amy Beck ran strongly in 115 mins. The quartet of Christina Adamson, her mother Kim, Alison Groat and Nicola Allan ran for the most part as a group as part of their training for upcoming races. Christina crossed the line in 119 mins and Alison and Nicola who are in serious training for the London marathon were just over 2 minutes behind with Kim running well in 123 mins.

Haweswater Half Marathon

On the same morning Adam Dickie and Simon Mortlock travelled to Penrith for the scenic but challenging Haweswater Half Marathon on an out and back route that includes some beautiful scenery in the Lake District National Park. Adam had a particularly strong run in 85 mins which augurs well for the London marathon and Simon Mortlock was slightly down on his usual high standards in 93 mins with both well in the top portion of the field.
