Drumlanrig Races

04/11/2012

On Sunday the weather was almost perfect for those who tackled the challenging, yet very scenic, Drumlanrig races...

Expertly organised by Annie Stoddart and Diane Jarvie along with a very enthusiastic team from Wallacehall Academy, the events helped showcase the Castle grounds at their very best.

The Drumlanrig Demon 10k race involved some undulating road and trail sections as did the Queensberry Half Marathon which challenged all who took part.

In his second 10k of the weekend David Parrish retained his title on the testing terrain in 38 mins with Jim Buchanan running strongly in third place just over 60 seconds behind.

David Burns ran well in 45:30 as did Stephen Mohan just under two minutes behind, with Peter Hutchison continuing his running rehab to complete the course in 59 minutes.

The nominated team of David, Jim and Stephen took the honours as first team.

In the Half Marathon, Simon Mortlock had a powerful run in 4th place in 93 minutes with Alastair Bloxham less than 4 mins behind and Peter Hill looking very strong to finish in 105 mins.

The accompanying Castle View Fun Run was a DRC family affair, with young Annabel Hart showing mum Vicky and dad Paul the way round.
