Stranraer 10k

03/11/2012

On Saturday, ten Dumfries Running Club members travelled through to Stranraer to take part in the annual 10k...

The race always attracts a high quality field despite the challenging hill that greets the runners before the halfway point on the route.

By his own high standards David Parrish said he was a little disappointed to 'only' finish in 37:46 but still managed a top 10 position out of 190 finishers.

Graeme Cross finished only three places further back in 38:19, whilst Norman Neilson ran strongly in 39:58 for 16th and 2nd V50.

Alastair Stapleton (40:24) was next home for the club whilst Danny Queen recorded a win in the V55 category with a time of 42:12.

Nick Stapleton in 42:55 was closely followed by Allan Manson, pleased to be back running after an injury sustained whilst triathlon training, in 43:03, with Peter McGill a little further back in 45:53.

Theresa Lavery ran well in 50:22 to improve on her time from last year's race with Willis Peel, who has been hampered recently with injury crossing the finish line in 73:50.

The race was won by Mickey Breen of Corstorphine AAC in 32:37.
