Christmas Handicap
There was a great turnout of members for this year's Christmas Handicap, with Amanda Barnetson leading the chasing pack home to win the shield for 2011....
On a crisp, sun bathed frosty morning, Amanda Barnetson was first to cross the line in the Club's Christmas Handicap to have her name put on the trophy for 2011. The icy underfoot conditions on the 5 mile Holywood course made things tricky for the 39 participants, but despite this there were some fine times posted. Jo Zakrzewski certainly made short work of the conditions, setting a new Ladies record of 28.46 for the event, a time faster than her own course record for the Holywood Stroll held over the same course in May. Back marker for the day, Dave Parrish gave himself an even tougher task, missing his start time by 25 seconds, but stormed his way through the field to finish in 6th place in the day's fastest time of 28.25...
