Great Langdale Christmas Pudding 10K
With preparation for 2012 races in mind, Carolyn Johnstone and Martha Halbert headed for Great Langdale in the Lake District to run the Great Langdale Christmas Pudding 10K on Sunday December 12th. The Christmad Pudding that every finisher received as a prize was also a real lure.....
Just shy of 300 runners set off on a hilly, out-and-back route along the Langdale valley and the girls were glad to have been warned of the "undulating" course beforehand. Nevertheless, such beautiful scenery and the festive costumes of fellow runners kept things interesting. Martha and Carolyn were content with finishing in 55 and 59 minutes respectively, decent times when you allow for significant drag from "tinsel and sleigh bell" headbands. 'Tis the season and so on.
A complimentary rub-down, hot mince pies and tea in the Stickle Barn Tavern was the perfect way to finish a really enjoyable event. Onwards and upwards to the New Year's adventures!
