Someone will have a chat with you to
find out about your current fitness level, previous (if any) running
experience, and ascertain what it is that you want to gain from coming to
running club. You will then be paired up with a jogging, running
partner, or depending on your experience, slotted into a supervised group.
No one who comes to club is left to run alone.
For those new to running all you
really need is a pair of well fitting, comfy trainers, preferably lace ups.
Wear clothing appropriate to the weather i.e., T-Shirt and leggings or shorts
for the summer, layers with a light waterproof jacket, hat and gloves for the
winter. If you like bring some water with you, you can either carry it
or leave it in a car ready for your return. If you like this running
lark then you can opt for proper running shoes and more specialist clothing,
there is plenty out there to choose from.
It is not necessary to immediately
join the running club, just come along a few times and see if you like us,
then decide.
The Tuesday night session is rather
more rigorous, suited to the already experienced runner, who can run for over
6 -7 miles. The Thursday night session is
geared towards speedwork, and is suitable for all, as the leader structures
the sessions to cater for runners of varying ability. This session
is particularly good for building confidence.
If you come along on a Monday night
just ask to be pointed in the direction of any one of the following people -
Margaret Gray, Les Hill, Stephen Mohan, Susan Graham, Vicky Little, all are
members of the Running Club Committee, and are regular Monday night people.
