WHEN DID YOU START RUNNING AND WHY? Around 3 ½ years ago, in the autumn of 2003. I wanted a change of lifestyle, to improve my mental and physical health.
FAVOURITE THING ABOUT DUMFRIES RUNNING CLUB? Regular meetings with like-minded people.
POSITIVE EXPERIENCES WITH
HOW DO YOU FEEL YOU HAVE IMPROVED (SPEED/HEALTH/CONFIDENCE)? I am generally a lot healthier now than I was throughout my 20’s. Being a member of the club has helped me improve on my times in races.
FAVOURITE PLACE TO RUN?
Round about the
FAVOURITE TYPE OF RUNNING/DISTANCE? I think the distance I’ve enjoyed the most to date is the half marathon.
WEEKLY MILEAGE? 35-40 miles ideally, but often less, sometimes more.
MOST SATISFYING RUN/PERFORMANCE? Cumbrian Run 2006 – although I finished officially in 1 hour 25 minutes (a PB) I was hampered by being at the very back of the crowd at the start and my time was more like 1 hour 23 minutes but I still got a medal for being 3rd in the club championship due to faster runners being away on holiday.
