Carlisle Half Marathon 2018

The Carlisle half marathon and 10k took place on Sunday 2nd September.

This was the first time this event has been held. Organised by IM Events, this was a large scale competition starting and finishing at Carlisle United football stadium with the route starting out in Carlisle city centre including through the Lanes shopping centre and out into the countryside  finishing back in the stadium.  It was a well organised event with spectators out in force at various points of the route giving encouragement to runners. It was also featured on Border TV later that evening.

Both races started at the same time with 513 runners in the half marathon and 253 in the 10k.

The half marathon was the Road Race championship in the DRC Grand Prix series and 11 Running Club Members took part.

Sian Finlay was first lady in 39th place overall in a time of 1.33.45.

Alan Baxter was first in for DRC. He was 12th place overall in 1.24.06.

He was closely followed by Kevin McCaig in 1.24.56. Simon Mortlock also ran a good race in 1.29.27.

Les Hill was 1st Vet 60 in 1.33.31. Mike Jardine was next in from the club in 1.36.43.

Neil Moffat was happy with his time in a respectable in 1.44.44. Fiona Jardine broke the 2 hour barrier in 1.59.06.

Andrew Davis ran a steady race in 2.04.05. June Scott who is running several half marathons in close succession came in in 2.28.17 followed by Rhiannon Breed in 2.29.05.
