Double Triumph For Les

28/03/2018

Having missed the Dent 14 miles race, on 10th March, because of a flu virus Les Hill made a last minute decision a week later to tackle the Trimpell 20 miles road race at Lancaster.

He wasn’t sure if he had fully recovered from the flu and started with a little trepidation. The bad weather on 18th March caused a number of races to be cancelled but with only light snow flurries and a wind chill factor taking the temperature below freezing the 20 miler went ahead. Les soon found he had recovered and recorded 2 hours 24 minutes and 24 seconds.  He was subsequently rewarded with the prize for First V60 after the race.

Despite still feeling the effects of the 20 miler, on Sunday 25th March, he ran the Balloch to Clydebank Half Marathon where he was delighted to sneak below seven minute miles pace and won the first V60 prize again with a time of 91 minutes 28 seconds.

With only four weeks to go before running the London Marathon it looks as though Les’ training is going well and he could be set for a good performance at London.
