Mabie Trail Race

21/06/2017

The Mabie Trail 10k is a popular race for Dumfries Running Club, and 19 members turned up to support the Dumfries Harriers event on June 11th.

It was a fine day for running, and despite a week of rain in the lead up the underfoot conditions were good. Two DRC members won prizes: Nicola Hood had a fabulous run finishing in 41:24 as 1st woman home, and 3rd overall in the race, while Anne Macfarlane was 1st 'Supervet' woman, in 51:44. Graham Beckett ran strongly in 44:22, closely followed by Charlie Storrie, returning to racing with a good performance at 44:58. David Burns finished 50:20, Mark Hall in 52:17 with Skye Sarahs, Neil Moffat and Craig Kerr not far behind in 53:51, 54:00 and 54:26 respectively.. Andrew Davis came in at 57:24, Sean McGleenan in 62:08 equaled his 2016 time to the second, and was closely followed by Karen Littlejohn in 62:16. Laura Broatch and Fiona Jardine were next in 63:21 and 63:31 with Carol Graham making 65:18. Helen Steele had a good run in 69:29, leading Peter Hutchison who finished in 70:30. Joyce Hamilton came in at 72:41 and Steph Grier 75:10. Several members were on their second race of the week and a number had completed marathons and half marathons the previous weekends, but all enjoyed the race and complimented the Dumfries Harriers on a well organised event.
