Carlisle Tri 10k

14/06/2017

The Carlisle tri club 10k has grown into a sharp test of speed that always attracted a high quality field to the start at the Carlisle Race course. The course was relatively flat with only a few undulations to test the 23 Dumfries Running Club members who joined the field of 276 on Wednesday June 7th.

The fastest club member who gained maximum points in his quest for the 2017 grand prix title was Niall Campbell in 36.53 ahead of Alan Baxter who was third vet 40 in 38.48 and Kevin McCaig who was a few strides behind as he gained the second vet 50 prize. Stuart Gillespie had an outstanding run in 42.06, six seconds ahead of Brian Mohan with 3rd MV50 and Sandy Shankland as first vet 60 a further fourteen seconds behind.

Les Hill and Mike Jardine ran well in 43.31 almost a minute in front of fast finishing David Burns who was 20 seconds in front of Stephen Mohan. Female club captain Sue Jeffrey was delighted to gain a PB on home territory in 45.36, seventeen seconds in front of Craig Kerr and Mark Hall produced a strong run in 46.09, thirty seconds in front of Anne Macfarlane who won 1st FV50. Neil Moffat ran well in 47.53 in his second race of the week.

Recovering from injury, Ian Anderson did well in 51.45 as did Jennifer Ross and Laura Broatch who ran much of the way together with Jennifer in 55.21, a couple of strides ahead. Sean McGleenan ran a good run in 56.05 narrowly in front of Karen Scott with Fiona and Kerry Jardine running together in 58.03, narrowly in front of Helen Steele.
