Glen Ogle 33

14/11/2016

The Glen Ogle 33 Ultra race took place on 5 November with three Dumfries Running Club members taking part.

On what was a beautiful, sunny winter’s day, the conditions were perfect and Neil Renault was the first male home set a new course record finishing in an incredible time of 3:29. Nicola Adams-Hendry The first woman to cross the line completed the course in 4:19.

Alison Groat McKean was the first finisher from DRC with a time of 5:21 to finish off a busy and impressive Ultra-running year. Alison – along with the rest of the DRC team – was hugely appreciative of the support given by Alan, Andy and Karen who had the happy knack of popping up to give much encouragement at various points along the route.

Bob Quin, running his first Ultra set a target of finishing and enjoying the experience. Bob was delighted to finish in 6:44. and enjoyed the race so much he’s entered the Glen Lyon Ultra being run in May 2017.

Jo Johnstone was running this course for the second time and did not expect to get near her time of 6:07 from last year. Unfortunately, Jo developed some severe knee and hip pains form the 19 mile mark and had to dig deep to complete the remaining 13 miles to finish with a time of 6:49.

If anyone is thinking of trying an Ultra, this race is a really good one to go for. It’s well organised, friendly and brilliantly marshalled.
