Mabie Trail Race 2016

15/06/2016

The sun was shining for the annual running of the Mabie Forest 10k Trail Race on Sunday.

Ten members of Dumfries Running Club took part in the race over track, trail and forest road in what were ideal running conditions. Adam Dickie was the first DRC runner home in 44 minutes 42 seconds giving him a very credible 12th place finish in a quality field. Only 5 places behind and showing consistency with his last few runs over the same course in a time of 46.52 was Ranjit Thomas. First DRC lady home was Anne Macfarlane. Anne ran steady and strong setting one of her best times on the course with 52.45. Fourth DRC member to finish in a time of 53.50 was Ian Anderson who was happy with his performance after his recent Comrades Marathon run. Andy Dickson finished the race in 49th position with a fantastic performance and still looking strong in a time of 60.40. It was then a race to the line for 51st and 52nd place with Jody Dempster just taking the honours over Sean McGleenan in a time of 61.26. Sean ran a great race and finished with a time of 62.02, again looking very comfortable at the finish. Emma Luebke once again added another race to her collection with a solid performance in a time of 64.33. She was closely followed over the line by Carol Graham who also finished the race strong in 66.11. However, one of the performances of the day was reserved for Laura Broatch who runs with the Monday night group. She took on a difficult course and completed the race an excellent 76 minutes 10 seconds. Well done to all DRC members on what was a very enjoyable day.
