Christmas Handicap 2015

21/12/2015

Twenty three runners took part in this year's Christmas Handicap event which took place on the wet and windy morning of Sunday 20th December. Congratulations to this year's winner Sid Oates who ran the five mile Holywood Stroll route in 46.04.

2015 saw a change to the format of the handicap. Runners were to predict their own finishing time, and the runner closest to their time, but not faster, was crowned the winner. Sid acheived the title of Xmas Handicap winner by being only four seconds slower than his predicted time of 46 minutes. Mike Jardine was the second runner closest to his predicted time in 37.07 followed by Gemma Leadbetter in 42.45.

First back to the finish was Andy Dickson in a time of 45.59 followed by Joyce Hamilton in 50.01 who was thrilled to be almost five minutes quicker than she predicted. The fastest runner on the day was Kevin Conchar who ran the route in 30.09. The full list of results can be seen here.

A big thank you to all the helpers who did the timekeeping and results, and also to everyone who helped out at Nunholm with tea, coffee and mince pies.

And finally thank you to all the runners who wore their Christmas outfits and made the wet and windy morning feel more festive!
