The Vitality Bath Half Marathon

01/03/2015

On Sunday, March 1st, Helen Pedley travelled south to fly the flag for the Club at the Bath Half Marathon... she sent the following account of the race...

"Race organisation was really good for the start considering there were approx 12,000 runners. This made for a very busy start and talking to other runners resulted in a lot of us running further than the 13.1 miles, I managed to record a distance of 13.35 miles.

The route is a double loop through the city of Bath and perhaps did not take in the most scenic views of Bath. On the plus side the spectator support was great around the course and runners were supported on the whole course. The route is billed as a flat, PB potential race. If you are near the front I think you could get a PB but further back with the crowds makes that more difficult. There is a slight incline at mile 1 and repeated at mile 7 but otherwise flat.

Overall a well organised race but very busy. I have also realised that more training should have happened before I rocked up to run a half marathon!"

Helen.
