Stranraer Half Marathon

07/03/2015

On Saturday, five members of Dumfries Running Club travelled to Stranraer to take part in the town's half marathon and despite the weekend's windy conditions all did very well. Kirsteen Kellock was one of the Club members in the race and reports as follows...

"The conditions were challenging as each hilly, sorry,  'undulating' part of the course was met with a fierce headwind. First home was James Kellock who surprised himself by completing the course in 1.29.37 which was considerably faster than last year. Next was Alison Groat who did another brilliant performance to run a new PB of 1.44.45 and won a trophy for first lady V35-39.

Another trophy was awarded to Fiona Jardine for first female V45-50 in a time of 1.54.22.

Kirsteen Kellock was not only delighted to finish her first ever half marathon in one piece but also with her time of 1.56.59. Paula Craven had another strong run finishing in 2.05.40.

Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the race and were delighted with their performances, especially so given the conditions and with all having commented that they were either unaware or had forgotten how hilly the course was.

Heather (6 yrs) and Iona Kellock (4 yrs) also ran in the kids race with Heather getting the first girl trophy. We also received great support from Theresa Lavery, who sadly is currently injured."

Kirsteen.
