Stranraer 10K

01/11/2014

On the first day of November, Kirseen and James Kellock headed west along the A75 to take part in the Stranraer 10k... Theresa Lavery reports...

Kellocks Special 10K

Dumfries Running Club couple Kirsteen and James Kellock headed to Stranraer to blow off the Halloween cobwebs to compete in the annual Stranraer 10k. The runners made a scarily early start and packed up the family and headed west.

The atmosphere before the race was friendly and the blue skies and sunshine were perfect conditions for the start of the run. The couple started off side by side in their maroon running club tops, however a few strides in, the gap opened up as James ploughed ahead with the front runners.

The course was its hilly self with a fresh breeze to match. Kirsteen and James confidently tackled all hills and still looked fresh at the finish.

James finished 11th in a time of 41:03 and Kirsteen came 88th in a time of 52:57.  Both runners headed back to Dumfries a little wind swept and pleased with their overall performance. GO KELLOCKS!!!!

Norman Neilson and Craig Malcolmson also ran the race, representing Dalbeattie Running Club, finishing in 42:37 (19th place) & 43:24 (26th place) respectively. Bob Green, representing Solway Running Club finished in 47:31.
