Cross-Border 10k

31/08/2014

Five DRC members travelled to Carlisle to run in the Cross Border 10k Challenge from Gretna to Carlisle on a warm and sunny Sunday morning (August 31).  Here is how they got on...

The race is a Southern route from Scotland to England parallel to the M74 motorway and is noted to be relatively fast and flat, although it does have a few undulations. Around 250 people had entered the race and were taken to the start in Gretna by bus. They ran to Kingmoor Park where each finisher was given a commemorative medal and a goody bag.

Of the DRC members, Mark Hall was the first to finish in a time of 48:30 just ahead of Linda Oates finishing in 48:43 (1st VF50). Richard McDougal came in close behind Linda, pleased with achieving a better time than expected of 49:35. Maggie Gray ran a good race in 52:34, and Sid Oates enjoyed his run finishing with a time of 56:07.
